What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is essentially the process of using cold temperatures for health benefits. This form of therapy has been used in different ways since the 1700s to help decrease pain and muscle spasms, improve recovery, slow cell aging and improve health.

So what makes Cryotherapy so important?

The importance lies in helping maintain our skin’s renewal cycle by decreasing oil production and producing collagen. Collagen is the protein that gives us the youthful appearance that many of us wish to keep for as long as possible. When we put our skin under too much stress such as: lack of sleep, pollution, caffeine, etc … it can cause the skin’s renewal cycle to slow down. The results are loose, dull, lifeless skin with an overproduction of oil in some cases.

Cryotherapy is highly popular among professional athletes because of the rapid recovery times. Once the procedure is complete, the rush of recirculated blood rids your body of the toxins.

As human beings grow older, the structural protein known as collagen will slowly be lost. This will lead to visible wrinkles and sagging skin. However, Cryotherapy facials can help reverse that process. Essentially, the cold acts as a trigger for your body’s natural defenses to activate. Once activated the skin cells start to replenish itself and perform more efficiently.

What are the benefits of Cryotherapy?

There are a lot of benefits to Cryotherapy from helping minor inflammations to autoimmune disease and everything else in between. Keep in mind that Cryotherapy itself has been used in medical communities for hundreds of years and is well documented. Here is a list of some of the benefits Cryotherapy has to offer:

  • Great acne treatment
  • Evens out the skin tone and reduces pigmentation
  • Make skin radiant and firm
  • Soothes irritation
  • Provides long-term rejuvenation
  • Recharges and energises the complexion
  • Stimulates skin cell renewal and repair
  • Slightly lightens acne scars
  • Gives skin a smooth texture and tone

What do I need to know about Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy uses a cryogen that is created during the treatment. Once the liquid nitrogen is made into a snow ball and wrapped in a gauze to create a slush. The slush is then lightly swiped over the treated areas.

Cryotherapy has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties making it ideal for acne prone skin. Cryotherapy can be done alone to treat acne, as often as once a week due to its exfoliation abilities.

In addition, the Cryo facial machine uses cold air to boost circulation and stimulate cell repair. The facial is suitable for most skin types, but if you have particular skincare concerns please consult your provider before your treatment.

  • Penetrates deep into the skin’s layer
  • Targets the source of acne
  • Clear skin in little as 1 week
  • Treats existing blemishes
  • Helps prevent future breakouts
  • Stimulates cell regeneration

Patients will notice a refreshed look the following day after their treatment.

How long is the Cryotherapy treatment?

The Cryotherapy treatment itself is surprisingly quick. It is reported to take approximately 10- 20 minutes for the entirety of the procedure.

What happens during the Cryotherapy procedure?

Liquid nitrogen will be combined with 100% pure medical-grade oxygen and applied to the skin. The cold nitrogen will freeze and exfoliate away the dead skin cells while stimulating cell regeneration. Additionally the oxygen, which also contains added vitamins and antioxidants, will also kill bacteria and heal damaged skin cells.

During the facial cryotherapy, the liquid nitrogen vapors will be blown all over the neck and face. On the surface of the skin, you’ll instantly notice your pores shrinking and any inflammation on the face disappear. On the inside of the skin, blood circulations will be improved which will result in an increase in collagen production. As many of you may already know, collagen is important for the maintenance of our radiant youthful-looking facial complexion.

What are the results of Cryotherapy?

Patients will notice a refreshed look the following day after their treatment. Skin is left tightened and rejuvenated. Bare in mind, results may vary from person to person.
